Position: Receptionist at small private School

Minimum/Essential Requirements: – Matric/NSC or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4. Preferred/Desirable Requirements: – A post-school qualification in an administrative or related field at NQF level 6.


(Without an NQF level 6 qualification) * Three years of cumulative work experience, with at least six months of administrative work experience, ideally in a school environment.

(With an NQF level 6 qualification) * At least six months of administrative work experience, ideally in a school environment.

  • Knowledge of the school systems and procedures;
  • An intermediate level of computer literacy.


The school receptionist is responsible for assisting the school principle and deputy with all aspects of maintaining a professional and efficient service to all stakeholders as follows:

The above position is available to candidates who have strong administrative skills, coupled with the ability to perform under pressure and have exceptional communication skills.


Answering and screening calls

Diary management

Welcoming visitors and Covid-19 screening

Maintain staff and learner registers

Maintain staff leave register

Assist educators with bulk photocopies and printing (including exam/test printing)

Ensure that all learner / staff contact details are up to date

Taking minutes at staff meetings

Update school events on school diary

Sign for and accept courier deliveries

Assist with inventory and ensure there is adequate supply of stationery

Assist with parent queries

Keep CEMIS / SASAM’s updated and adhoc filing

Assist with recruitment process (calling candidates and parents)

Scheduling appointments for meetings and or events and provide refreshments and set up areas for meetings

Dealing with student queries

Processing the registration of learners

Filing all student documents and records

Handle incoming and outgoing documents and record all of these transactions

Process and monitor all purchases

Monitor and maintain all service contract and leasing agreements

Maintain and reconcile vendor accounts

Follow up on invoices for payment

Liaise with external finance administrator to assist in the financial matters of the school

Part-time hours: 30 per week

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary: R8,000.00 – R10,000.00 per month
